Lightspeeds Laptop Cooling Fan Service of Augusta GA
Affordable Laptop Computer Repair & PC Support For Augusta GA
Laptop/Notebook Overheating:
Frequent overheating WILL damage the internal hardware, and motherboard!
Symptoms - The laptop starts beeping, freezes, restarts by itself or shuts down after it has been on for some time, typically 10-15 minutes or more. If you start it again, it does the same thing after just a few minutes. Distorted screen display can be an overheated/damaged video graphics chip.
Most laptops overheat because the fan intake is blocked either from placing the laptop on a soft surface (your lap or bed) or by dust. Sometimes overheating is caused by a fan malfunction. If the fan is completely stuck, the laptop will show an error message immediately after starting. Internal dust will block the heatsink cooling vents INSIDE of the laptop, or as mentioned above, block the internal cooling fan. Rubber "feet" on botom of laptop wear down, which means no air circulation underneath the laptop.
MANY laptops are designed very poorly when it comes to cooling, either with NO intake cooling vents, or the vents are very small. I have modded a few laptops using a dremel tool to cut out an intake cooling vent on the bottom casing. I don't recommend this service if your laptop is still under warrenty.
EVERY component inside your laptop produces heat, in very tight quarters with very little airflow. 98% of laptops only have ONE cooling fan. A blocked, dirty laptop cooling fan WILL shorten the life of your laptop computer! A blocked dirty laptop fan will usually produce a steady loud noise, or periodically. This is the reason your laptop sounds louder than it use to as it gets older. Overheated video chip on laptop motherboard, repairable ONLY by replacing the entire motherboard at $200++ for the component! Hard drives DO NOT like heat. Laptop hard drives have a high failure rate due to prolonged excessive heat inside of the laptop.
ALL laptop cooling fans/vents get blocked from the inside of laptop, as you can see in the slide pictures above.
Few pictures above are from an HP Laptop, 5 year old, but "state of the art" when manufactured and sold for $1600-$2000.
Video is all distorted,, video chip is dis-colored burned/damaged and is embedded on the motherboard. Only repair is replacing the motherboard.................. the laptop is now junk!
HP has a very bad track record for laptop cooling, overheating, battery recalls, laptop recalls, and POOR customer service! This laptop had 3 cooling fans, plenty of cooling,, but ALL blocked and overheated the internal hardware! There was NO preventive maintenance or cleaning performed on this laptop. Result = $1600 in the trash can!
$75 Laptop Internal Cooling Fan Cleaning Service Includes:
Complete dis-assembly of laptop.

Fresh Layer Of Artic Silver Thermal Compound on the Processor/Heatsink.

I recommend having this checked/cleaned after the first year,,
or at least,,, IF the laptop lasts that long at 24 months,, or sooner.
Artic Silver Thermal Compound is widely used on computers through out the computer gaming industry, and by computer overclocking enthusiasts. Artic Silver is known for it's cooling, heat transfer properties on the processor, and is highly rated around the internet, and custom computer gaming forums. What is installed by desktop and laptop manufactures is a generic thermal compound, or thermal pad between the processor and heatsink fan, which does not transfer heat to well. The average temperature drop when using Artic Silver thermal compound is approx. 8-12 degrees on a desktop system.
This cleaning service is automatically performed when ever your laptop is dis-assembled for ANY hardware repair or replacment by Lightspeeds, at No Charge!
